Since billions of people for many centuries know the stories in the bible, the truth of those stories are less significant than the importance the bible has as a foundation for communication and story telling.
Two of the greatest characters from the Bible are God and the Devil. God is the good guy who made the world and the laws, while the devil is the bad guy who punishes for breaking laws and even tempts people to deserve his punishment.
Since I make jokes about God, people assume that I am a friend of the devil. First of all, God and the devil are just characters from a book, and I do not worship or pray to ANY characters from any book. But if I was going to pick a hero from the bible, clearly I would pick God. He created the world and wrote the laws of the land. Also he presides over the luxurious Heaven. The Devil on the other hand didn’t do much good for the world, and manages hell which seems to be all about fire, burning, and torture.
