Assume we have 2 bottles of wine. Bottle A is made from a well structured grape that will keep the wine from turning bad for many years. Bottle B is made from a weaker grape that will turn to vinegar in a much shorter time period.
After just a couple years, bottle A will have a smooth taste while bottle B will have a more tart fermented taste. After many years, bottle A’s structure will break down and may equal the strong taste that bottle B had after only a few years while bottle B’s taste may have already gone bad.
Expensive wines are the one’s made from grapes that taste good even after many years. Although it is cool to see a wine that remains drinkable for many years, those wines are not necessarily better tasting. In fact, if one likes a strong tasting wine, then the drinker may prefer a less expensive wine for its extra tart. Also, an expensive wine that is very old may have a similar taste to a young inexpensive wine.
Expensive wines that last many years are rare and cool to own, but when it comes to actual taste, you may do just as well with a new inexpensive bottle.
