Sex is healthy, violence is not

Politicians and many citizens are working just as hard to censor sex as they do violence. Although I don’t support any censorship, if something is going to be censored, it should be violence before sex. Sex is healthy, fun, and nurturing while violence is unhealthy, not fun, and damaging.

People don’t get overly concerned if a child sees someone murder someone else on TV. Few people fear that the child will be permanently disordered or be convinced to go out and kill like they saw on TV. But if a child (or adult) watches a man’s penis enter a woman’s vagina people fear that the person will be forever mentally scarred. This line of reasoning is absurd!

Sex is an extremely important part of our lives. From teenage years until death, sex is frequently on our minds and one of our greatest motivations. Unfortunately many people suffer from sexual problems and hang ups that plague them for their entire lives. Because sex is incredibly complex and powerful, the only way we can maximize our enjoyment of sex through-out our lives is through education and open discussion.

Rather than label x-rated movies as disgusting, we should call them educational. Instead of calling masturbation abnormal, we should encourage it as a form of sexual exercise. And instead of looking down on anything sex related, we should hold good sex as a moral obligation. Finally we should not fear educating our young about nudity, body changes, sexual feelings, and birth control.

Sex and violence are often lumped together as the main things we must protect people from inadvertently seeing. Although censorship is ridiculous in general, putting sex and violence together as equally dangerous is even more absurd.
