Employees are Capital

Employees have got to take responsibility for their own employment and make sure that the job they are doing is actually a benefit to the company. For example, government workers who sit behind a desk pushing paper while the government falls further into debt, should be looking for new jobs. Instead, most ignore the fact that their salary is a drag on society and will cry bloody murder when they eventually get fired.

The auto unions that are fighting outsourcing are similarly blind. Rather than restructure their work force so that they can successfully compete against significantly more productive employees at other non-union companies, unions are fighting to let their workers remain unproductive yet keep their high salaries and bloated number of employees. The union’s fight against outsourcing only has the effect of weakening the organization that pays their salaries.

If you are an employee, face the facts; you are just a piece of capital. If you are forward looking and try to develop needed skills, you will probably keep your job for life and make a nice living, but most likely won’t get rich. If you are a typical employee that just does the same thing everyday or supports a union that is more interested in the status quo than improving corporate profitability, then you are doomed to declining wages and eventual layoffs.

If you are an employee, you should be working your butt off to develop skills to quit and start your own business so that you will not only control your own destiny, but also have the opportunity to get rich!
