People who think they are smart are the stupidest of us all

I once thought the democrats were right on and decided that the Republicans didn’t understand. Then a few years later I thought the Republicans were correct and the Democrats just didn’t understand the truth. Now, a few more years later, I am gung-ho on the Reform Party. After seeing my opinion changes happen numerous times on various topics, I realized that although I am 100% convinced right now that I am correct, who is to say that in a few years I won’t look back at this same opinion and think it is a totally naive view.

The only people who are really stupid are the ones who actually believe that from their limited sampling of life’s infinite possibilities, that they actually know 100% that something is true. As we look back in history, there has never been a philosopher who had all the answers, yet there are millions of people alive today who believe that their opinions are as correct as God’s word.

The only difference between people who think they are smart and the rest of us, is that smart people don’t listen as well to others because they think they already "know the truth". As a result, those who think they are smart are usually the dumbest of all.
