Businessmen even wear these dark monkey suits in 100 degree summer weather while lighter more comfortable clothes would be much more appropriate.
One of the most fundamental laws in business is to differentiate yourself and your product. So why would you wear clothes that look exactly the same as everyone else? Especially if those clothes are expensive and uncomfortable.
The sad reality is that most big businesses are more concerned with maintaining their autocratic management style rather than earning money. Forcing the new recruits into stupid expensive outfits is just one of their tactics to discourage employees from thinking for themselves. To climb the ladder, workers have to kiss so much ass that by the time they make it to the top they actually believe all the bullshit they have been feeding their superiors. By that time the employee actually believes that wearing suits to work makes sense.
If you really think suits look cool, that’s fine. Wear them to social engagements, but when its time to make money, buy clothes that are inexpensive, comfortable, and different than your competition.
