Congressman Tom Trancredo doesn't understand the warwritten - August 4, 2005 Recently Republican Congressman Tom Tancredo made some outrageous comments that are getting little media attention. Talk show host Pat Campbell asked the Colorado Republican how the country should respond if terrorists struck several U.S. cities with nuclear weapons: "Well, what if you said something like — if this happens in the United States, and we determine that it is the result of extremist, fundamentalist Muslims, you know, you could take out their holy sites," Tancredo answered. "You're talking about bombing Mecca," Campbell said. "Yeah," Tancredo responded. The war against terrorism is a battle of freedom vs religious dictatorships. The US goal is to establish democracy and free markets in the center of the Middle East and strike a fatal blow to the militant terrorizing religious dictators (and wannabe dictators) in that region. Our enemies are a small percentage of the population in the Middle East, but their lack of care for life makes them extremely dangerous. Our allies are most of the population who want to live in peace and earn a nice living. Although our allies around the world and in the Middle East are greater in number, many are scared shitless to stand up for freedom and many are uneducated about democracy and free markets and how they work. Our allies in the Middle East are many of the good people who go to pray at Holy Sites. And eventually when we win this war, the evil murders will probably be routed out not by our air planes in the sky, but by insiders who attend services at the Holy Sites and participate in the fight for freedom. Bombing Holy Sites is a bad idea, not just because we respect anyone's religion nor because we fear mythical gods. Bombing Holy Sites is a bad idea because the people who attend those mosques are mostly on our side! And when we eventually win this epic battle, we will do it by working with the good religious people who visit those places of worship on a weekly basis. Tom Tancredo should be chastised by Congress for his comments. Especially since he is a member of George Bush’s party, Bush should speak out and make clear that he is not as stupid as this guy from Colorado. The good people in the Middle East are already scared enough from the terrorists, we do not need the US to scare them further!
